Hello!
Hi, I’m Samantha LeDosquet, a multidisciplinary artist based in Nampa, Idaho. I work across a variety of mediums—oil paint, printmaking, watercolor, charcoal, and pastel. My art ranges from abstract and contemporary surrealism to playful parodies of art history.
I studied fine art and art history at BYU-Idaho, and both continue to shape the way I create. I’m especially inspired by nostalgia and the long, strange, beautiful story of art through the ages. Whether I’m experimenting with color and texture or reimagining a classic work with a twist, I’m always looking for ways to connect the past to the present.
My Story
Creativity has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a home full of imagination. My mom encouraged us to make things with our hands, whether it was painting, drawing, crafting, crocheting, weaving, or gardening. My sisters dove into makeup and special effects, my brother played guitar and mixed music, and I found my place with a paintbrush and crochet hook in hand.
When I was 14, I became seriously ill with a complex autoimmune disease. I had to leave school, and life changed drastically. But during that difficult time, I turned even more toward creative expression. Art became both a lifeline and a language—something I could return to again and again. Painting about my experience with poor health gave me an outlet, and even now I use art as a way to feel my emotions more deeply and share my story.
Today, I make paintings and prints inspired by the warmth and wonder of my childhood—those quiet, magical memories that still shape how I see the world. My work is a reflection of that early spark, and a way to stay connected to the parts of life that are the happiest.
